What is Mediocrity?

Mediocrity is the state of accepting one’s regular and conventional lifestyle, ideologies, and mindset. It is the lack of desire to learn, grow, and improve. In the words of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,

“It’s a disease. Nobody thinks or feels or cares any more; nobody gets excited or believes in anything except their own comfortable little God damn mediocrity.”

Many people get content with the idea of a slow, dull, and usual lifestyle. The idea of being in their soft little comfort zones. The idea of playing safe and not taking any risks at all. While this mediocre ideology may sound very comforting to one’s lifestyle, after-all these are the days we all crave to live for. But, as time passes, you realize that the same old “things” have now become stagnant and offer you no personal growth or peace of mind.

It is, therefore, essential to realize that progress is the foundation of human existence. Progress is the force that drives you and actuates you not to stop. It is the factor that keeps you motivated and compels you to work harder.

Had it not been for progress or growth, wouldn’t our lives turn into that “regular, predictable daily soap whose climax everyone is aware of !”

Now, imagine a life where each day brings a new opportunity, each day gives you an unpredictable enthusiasm; each day provides you immense hope and the realization that you are larger than life itself.

Hey, hey …..now I am not asking you to jump off the fifth floor of that building in search of adventure, or run for the next Presidential elections in order to make it big! (well you can still do the latter if you want to )

But, the point here which is worth noticing is anything that makes you leave your comfort zone and makes you explore something which you thought you would never be able to do is Above Mediocrity!

Mediocrity is absolutely fatal that leaves you with a feeling of being an average. So , it’s crucial to rise above that “little God damn mediocrity” and focus on achieving all that you want to , without any fear , without any insecurities.

Remember,

“The only way to get out of mediocrity is to keep shooting for excellence.”
